The Mass Effect Trilogy Is Here

November 7, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

Including all the games and some, but not all, their downloadable content.

In case you haven't heard, it’s the five-year anniversary of the Mass Effect franchise. So to celebrate, BioWare has declared today N7 Day, which they're celebrating in the form of multiplayer challenges and first details concerning the Omega DLC.

But the party technically began yesterday with the release of the Mass Effect Trilogy for the Xbox 360 and PC. The collection includes Mass Effect 1-3 in full, plus associated DLC, for a whopping 75 hours of content in total. Many assumed that all DLC for each respective version would be included, but that's not quite the case.

For example, for the PC version, Mass Effect 1 will include Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station on disk. For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included which features Zaeed: The Price of Revenge, The Firewalker Pack, Cerberus Assault Gear, Arc Projector heavy weapon, and Normandy Crash site mission. And for Mass Effect 3, Online Pass will be included, granting players access to co-op multiplayer.

As for the Xbox 360, Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station are not included with Mass Effect 1, but they are available as stand-alone downloads through Xbox LIVE (it is not clear if one has to purchase them or if the package includes download codes). For Mass Effect 2, Cerberus Network will be included, as is Mass Effect 3's Online Pass.

The package is also compatible with other, previous releases. Meaning, a save file from the stand-alone version of Mass Effect 2, for example, with the version included in the package.

There's a version set for the PS3, but that's not due till December 4th. The product page states that it has no info pertaining to that particular version's DLC, but Destructoid has the inside track: Mass Effect 1 will include Bring Down the Sky, while Mass Effect 2 will have Cerberus Network, Kasumi, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker.

Mass Effect 1, which had never been previously available on Sony's console, will also finally be available as a stand alone PSN download, for just $14.99. Meanwhile, the collection for all three platforms is just $59.99.
