Latest Need For Speed Gets First Image, Won’t Require Internet Connection

May 9, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

“We’re committed to customization having a home within the Need for Speed series”

For a while, the development team behind the Need For Speed series was pumping out titles annually. EA had mentioned we’d be getting a new game this year, but today, Ghost Games officially confirmed the news on its blog. A single image of a dusty motel vacancy sign has been released, and rather curiously, it’s marked with the date June 2. This doesn’t coincide with EA Play – which is when the developers plan to share more details on the game.

Ghost Games has assured players that just like the previous entries, this Need For Speed will have a strong focus on customisation. Police chases will make a return, as well as beautiful environments and a dialled up dose of action. Perhaps most importantly, the 23rd entry in the series will not always require an internet connection. This refers to “a single player experience” which can be played completely offline – and does support pauses. No release date has been singled out just yet, but place your bets on sometime before March 31, 2018 (the end of EA’s next financial year).
