Mirage: Arcane Warfare Impressions – A Worthy MMO?

May 4, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Beta experiences.

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is an upcoming MMO first-person action title from developers Torn Banner Studio. Coming from their previous and initial video game release, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, the Mirage: Arcane Warfare title pins players against each other in both steel and magic-focused battles.

While the video game has yet to launch, a copy of the beta code had been supplied giving players a small taste of what they can expect when the title officially rolls out. All-in-all, players can expect a skill-based multiplayer action title where hacking off limbs and taking out your enemy targets will require careful and precise attacks.

The whole hero-based team MMO genre has been pretty filled offering gamers a robust selection of titles to enjoy. However, after so long, these video games can start to look the same and this is one aspect that made Mirage: Arcane Warfare standout if only just a bit.

Visually, the title showcases an Arabian style with elegant environments and matching décor of the various outfits characters will sport. Though with the elegant environments comes the blood-hungry opponents as you’ll often find limbs and bodies splattered about.

For the most part, I enjoyed the team battles in order to get an idea on how the game mechanics would play out when the title officially hits the market. Mirage: Arcane Warfare offers players six different classes, each with their own unique attributes and abilities.

You’ll want to master at least one as going in for your first few matches can be brutal. As I mentioned earlier, combat attacks and parries will have to be precise. This is because the character animations are relatively slow, or at least slower than my liking. It’s because of this that going into battle may result in some quick deaths.

Similar to MOBA titles, your special abilities will have a slight cooldown, so continuously spamming your unique character attributes is out of the question. As a result, I found myself having a very steep learning curve to go through when entering matches.

Though managing to get a kill is satisfying even if that victory is short-lived after you end up falling on the sword of your next opponent. This is definitely a title you’ll want to enjoy with friends as team-based battles where everyone is on the same page in terms of combat and strategy will help in winning matches.

Again, as I stated before, I’ve only got a small taste of the full game with the beta. Gamers can expect the full title to release for PC this May 23, 2017. Take a look at the game gallery down below along with the PC system requirements to run Mirage: Arcane Warfare.
