Update: Grand Theft Auto 5 Release Confirmed for Spring 2013, No PC Version Mentioned

October 30, 2012 by Alex Co

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming out in Spring of 2013!

Update: Rockstar has now issued a statement on why the PC version wasn't mentioned, you can view the full statement below.

Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we're currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don't have any details to share about a PC version at this time. Anyone that continues to spam the comments section will have their commenting privileges suspended.

Original Story:

Following a leak from U.K. retailer GAME's Twitter and a Polish site's outing of its pre-order poster, Rockstar has finally confirmed the Spring 2013 release window for Grand Theft Auto 5.

Rockstar founder Sam Houser states, "Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we've learned about open world game design," and adds, "We can't wait to share it with fans."

Grand Theft Auto 5 is being developed by Rockstar North and according to Rockstar, "is the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date. Set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and the surrounding area, Grand Theft Auto V delivers a world of unprecedented scale and detail bursting with life, from mountaintops to the depths of the ocean."

For those interested in plunking down the cash for the game already, retailers will start taking pre-orders for GTA V on November 5.

However, this little tidbit of good news did come with its enigma. In Take-Two's press release, Grand Theft Auto 5's Spring 2013 release window only mentions the PS3 and Xbox 360. Yep, there's no word on if the PC version will ship within the same scheduled — or at all.

Does this mean there won't be a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5? I highly doubt that since every version of the franchise has seen a PC release at one point or another. Odds are, its release window is just on a different date…or at least PC fans are hoping that this is the case.

So, there you go, sandbox fans. Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to take your money and your social life in Spring of 2013. I gather this announcement should make other publishers adjust their game releases accordingly, too, no?
