This evening’s Nintendo Direct has brought a lot of fresh news with it. One story is that Payday 2 will be available for the Nintendo Switch later this year.
Nintendo did not give a specific launch date for this game beyond 2017. Although Nintendo fans will likely be very happy to hear that the Switch version will include some of Payday 2’s previously released downloadable content.
There was some concern that ports to the Switch platform would feature downgrades in order to fit titles onto the less-hardware intensive platform. However, Nintendo has assured gamers that the Switch edition of Payday 2 will function just like the PC edition of the game.
Although the Nintendo Direct itself gave a 2017 release window, the official press release says that gamers should expect Payday 2 to arrive for the winter season.
Nintendo has also promised that the Switch will have plenty of third party support, which is definitely good news.
There is currently no word on which DLC will be included in the Nintendo Switch version of the game, but newer paid releases like the John Wick heist and the Scarface heist will likely not be included. However, some older free items like the John Wick character pack and original diamond store heist will likely make the cut.
