Players With Cracked Version of Mass Effect: Andromeda Won’t Get Improved Facial Animations

April 10, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Pirated ME: Andromeda? Sorry, no updates are on the horizon.

BioWare’s sci-fi adventure Mass Effect: Andromeda has seen no shortage of attention since its release. From glitches, to receiving critique for emotionless facial animations, and more recently, completely locking out some PC players from even starting up the game and connectivity issues. But there’s another chapter in the saga that’s just come to light concerning pirated copies of the game – anyone who downloaded a cracked version of Mass Effect: Andromeda will not be benefiting from the latest patch, which included “improved lip-sync and facial acting during some conversations, including localized VO”.

Mass Effect: Andromeda uses Denuvo anti-tamper technology, described on the Denuvo website as the number one global anti-piracy technology. Despite the claim, it wasn’t enough to prevent hackers from breaking through MEA‘s protective barrier, and according to recent online reports this is because the game released with the older version of Denuvo (which had already been cracked). Although BioWare did not explicitly state so in the latest patch, the company appears to have inconspicuously updated to the newer Denuvo software, locking out anyone with pirated copes of MEA.

Keen on checking out Mass Effect: Andromeda but still a little indecisive? Make sure you watch our Before You Buy before you take the plunge.
