Open-World Will Become The Standard For The Legend of Zelda

April 4, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Expect more open-world video games within The Legend of Zelda franchise.

When it comes to The Legend of Zelda, the franchise hit a major installment recently with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The video game saw incredible reviews from both gamers along with critics alike and while most gamers are still chipping away at the video game in hopes to see it all, a statement was recently given in regards to the franchise future.

Thanks to Go Nintendo who reported on an interview with The Legend of Zelda director Eiji Aonuma and Famitsu, we can fully expect to see open world based installments to become the new norm for The Legend of Zelda.

When speaking to Famitsu, the Japanese publication asked if going on towards the next major installment to The Legend of Zelda franchise will be an “open-air” type video game. In response, Aonuma stated that the future of The Legend of Zelda video games will see a new standard of being open-air.

It may be tough to see how the developers can top The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as it’s a video game receiving nearly perfect scores everywhere. Nevertheless, the team has proven to be talented and we’re sure the evolution of The Legend of Zelda will continue to wow and inspire gamers all around the world.

Of course, we’re well off from seeing the next major installment launch for the franchise and likely closer to seeing a new handheld title launch for the Nintendo 3DS. Regardless, what do you think of open-world becoming the norm for the franchise? Let us know by leaving a comment down below.
