XCOM: Enemy Unknown Slingshot Content Pack Announced

October 24, 2012 by Alex Co

Read on for details regarding XCOM’s first expansion!

Want to slay more alien scum in XCOM: Enemy Unknown? Firaxis has you covered as they've just announced the first-ever expansion for the game.

Titled "The Slingshot Content Pack," this content is the first part of a planned two-part DLC. In addition to new maps, the DLC will also let players battle it over in the skies of China! Here's the official description straight from 2K themselves:

The Slingshot Content Pack is the first of the two packs. The Slingshot pack is a set of linked Council missions that take place on three new maps. The player will meet Zhang, an enigmatic Triad operative, divert an alien ship’s course, and do battle with the aliens in the skies over China. In addition to new maps, the DLC will include a new playable character with a unique story and voice and new character customization options.

Currently, The Slingshot Content Pack has no definite price or release date; but we'll keep you posted once it's known. Also worth mentioning, the second pack has no title yet and 2K states they'll announce details at a later date.

Aside from the new DLC, Firaxis is also making XCOM's Elite Soldier Pack pre-order only bonus now available to everyone…but it will cost you.

Here's what you'll get for buying the Elite Solider Pack:

  • Classic X-COM soldier: Players will instantly receive a new recruit in their barracks inspired by the original X-COM: UFO Defense. The iconic soldier with the blonde, flattop hairstyle will return fully modernized.

  • Soldier Deco packs: Players can customize their soldier with several aesthetic upgrades to armor suits, including the new Hyperion and Reaper soldier armor kits.

  • Complete color customization: A variety of colors and tints for all armor sets in the game allow players complete control to customize their squad’s look.

For those who didn't pre-order the game and received any of the stuff above, it will cost you $4.99 for the PS3 and PC, while Xbox 360 players can purchase it for 400 Microsoft Points.

Anyone getting the Elite Soldier Pack or are you reserving your funds for the all-new DLC?
