Anarchy Reigns finally dated for North America and Europe

October 19, 2012 by Matt Hawkins

Those waiting for Platinum’s latest and greatest finally have dates to fixate on

Anarchy Reigns is the most recent release by Platinum Games. It's an online beat'em up that's characterized by its over the top violence, the wacky post-apocalyptic war environments, and cameos from previous games from the studio, including MadWorld and Bayonetta.

It came out earlier this summer in Japan, and was a notable absence at Sega's booth at E3 this year, where many assumed it would be part of their portfolio. Instead, the published exhibited what many characterized as indifference, and stated that it was coming eventually… sometime during 2013.

Well, better late than never: finalized releases dates have been issued. According to Destructoid, North Americans will get a copy on January 8, follow by Europe on January 11. On the plus side, they'll be affordable; the price will be $29.99 or £19.99/€29.99 respectively.

The primary reason why so many were disheartened to hear that Anarchy Reigns was given the back seat in the first place was because the game depends so greatly on online play. And there's a fear that many suitable opponents, those in Japan, will be long gone by the time Americans and Europeans get their hands on it at last.

Though one has to assume that there will be enough people on those ends to keep each other company. But then you have the other fear, that such a niche title will get lost in the sea among major releases that are also slated for that timeframe. Whereas, if it had been released over the summer, Anarchy Reigns may have found a wider audience.

But anyone who has followed Sega for any length of time knows already that they work in mysterious ways.
