New details emerged online of what gamers can expect from the new live events game mode that will be packed with the upcoming Hitman video game. These new events will keep gamers playing Hitman between episode releases and it should add some new fresh gameplay elements to keep things interesting. According to the post by a developer of IO Interactive, some of these game modes are still being tested but he does go into detail as to what the various live features entails.
Hitman is the next upcoming installment to the franchise that bares the same name. Taking place after the events of Hitman: Absolution, players will once again take on the role of Agent 47, a skilled assassin that will travel to various international locations to eliminate the designated target. There has been a few changes to this upcoming Hitman installment. For instance, IO Interactive has decided to drop the linear gameplay approach from their previously released Hitman: Absolution for a more open sandbox based level system that will contain hundreds of non-playable characters, all of which will react differently while going about their daily routines. Being broken up into five episodes, the developers of Hitman have decided to toss in live events, which will be various game modes aimed at keeping players interested in the game between episodes.
Today we get a bit more insight into what these live events entail thanks to a post on the Steam forums from an IO Interactive developer. First up, we have news of Elusive Targets, which are custom-created characters that are added into existing locations for a limited amount of time in real-time. Players must search out these characters by following a set of clues and is only given one chance to assassinate the target.
Escalation Mode is brand new in the Hitman series where it will help players master each level with fresh new challenges. Essentially, within Escalation Mode, players must complete a level with a stricter set of rules such as using only a certain weapon or dressed in a particular costume.
Contracts Mode is also making a return from the previously released Hitman: Absolution title. Players will be able to create missions such as determining a target and how a player must kill them, for others to attempt. IO Interactive will even pick out some of their favorite user-created missions to be displayed on the Featured Contracts list. These are not the only features being tested and considered for the upcoming release of Hitman as the developer explains their interest in coming up with new ways to include content inspired by the community. Gamers can pick up the first episode of Hitman starting on March 11, 2016 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
