Monster Hunter X was the highlight of Capcom’s Q3 FY2015 report, selling 3.2 million units.
Released in Japan in late November, Monster Hunter X immediately outsold the lifetime digital sales of its predecessor, Monster Hunter 4G, in a staggering four days. Six days after release, it was already at 2 million units sold.
Monster Hunter X’s solid performance, along with Dragon’s Dogma Online, released on PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4, Monster Hunter Explore, released on mobile, and Monster Hunter Online, a China PC exclusive, helped raise Capcom’s net sales up 19.3 % and operating income 9 % year on year.
Capcom hopes to continue this momentum with the pending release of major titles like Street Fighter V and Umbrella Corps, but it’s clear the question on everyone’s minds is when Capcom will confirm and reveal the Western release schedule for Monster Hunter X.
