This week’s Super Smash Bros 4 posts elaborates on Mii Fighters and Pac-Man, and reveals some new things to look forward to.
On Monday, Sakurai revealed the Mii Swordfighter has some extra weapons among their special attacks. Shurikens of Light are straightforward projectiles, and Gale Strikes create a small tornado between you and the opponents. It remains to be seen if this mini-tornado acts like Cody’s Criminal Upper or Haohmaru’s Senpuuretsuzan.
Most interesting are the Chakrams. Unlike Shurikens, you can control what direction the Chakrams go, and you can even make them stop midair. The Chakrams are also tied to a side special, so you can use an item immediately after it.
Tuesday revealed the appearance of Eggrobo, Dr. Eggman’s nefarious robot copies from the Sonic games. They will be opponents in Smash Run, using laser guns.
On Wednesday, Sakurai revealed another 3DS- exclusive thing – a new mini-game called Trophy Rush. Sakurai opted to keep details secret, but he did compare it to Super Smash Bros Brawl’s Coin Launcher. That is to say, he explains it’s nothing like Coin Launcher. I guess he’s implying the two will appear similar, but have palpable differences.
On Thursday, we got to see Pac-Man’s standard special move, Bonus Fruit. Each fruit does different things and moves a different way when thrown. You can switch between them via charging the move, but the cycling time doubles the 2nd time around. A note for older players: the fruit comes out in the same order as it did in the original maze game.
Finally, on Friday Sakurai revealed Donkey Kong’s third special attack, Storm Punch. As you can see, you can literally blow enemies away with it. As Sakurai puts it, the number of special moves you can choose from is ‘apalling’.
Super Smash Bros 4 is coming to 3DS October 7, and to the Wii U this winter.
