Borderlands Dev Gearbox Announce Project 1v1; A Competitive FPS With Collectible Card Game Elements
Project 1v1 is Gearbox Studios’ latest title.
Gearbox Software, the studio mostly known for the massively successful Borderlands franchise, recently revealed their latest project. Project 1v1 is a competitive first-person shooter mixed with collectible card game elements. Gearbox plans to hold a closed technical test on PC later this summer to “test the online infrastructure and learn what players like” about the game so they can decide whether to change things up or keep it as they are while going forward.
Project 1v1’s closed test will feature three modes; ranked, challenges and arena. Here is a brief description of the title and its modes:
Project 1v1 is the code name for a top-secret, in-development, competitive first person shooter—and we want you to have a chance to be one of the first people to try it out! Project 1v1 combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game.
This summer, we will be holding a short Closed Technical Test on PC to test the online infrastructure and learn what players like you think about the game in order to inform and influence future development. If you’d like to be among the first people to play Project 1v1, get started right now at Project1v1.com.
The test will be held on North American servers, so international players may experience decreased performance.
The Closed Technical Test will feature three modes:
Get matched with an opponent based on player rating. Win ranked matches to earn experience and crates containing new cards.
Challenge a friend to an unranked match.
Queue up to challenge the current Arena champion – and win to take their place.
For now there isn’t a release date nor the game’s supported platform, but we’ll keep you updated once we have any new information.
