Steam Usage On Windows 8 Is Outpacing OS X
Guess the death of gaming on Windows has been greatly exaggerated.
Many wondered how gamers would receive the latest flavor of Windows, and even after its release, the latest from Redmond is still a curiosity to say the least. It also didn't help when Gabe Newell, the man behind Steam, predicted that Windows 8 would be a "catastrophe."
Turns out, that's not quite the case, at least not yet. PC Gamer reports how the latest Steam hardware survey notes how 4.69% of Steam users are now on Windows 8. That might not seem like a terribly impressive number, but given how new the new updated OS is, it's not half bad either.
Though the most noteworthy thing to mindful of is how, even at this super early point in time, that number has already overtaken the combined Mac OS X variants of the client.
It was also noted that Windows 7, still the current king of the mountain, experienced a 0.85% decline in users, with Windows 8 enjoying a 2.66% growth when compared to last month.
Point being, people are using Windows 8 to play games after all, and despite assumptions that the two would not mix.
