Microsoft Confirm Thousands of Layoffs from Sales And Marketing Department
Sad news coming from Microsoft.
The gaming industry is a wonderful place to work in, but layoffs happen from time to time, and when Microsoft is involved, it is definitely something big.
Rumors surfaced a couple of hours ago regarding mass layoffs happening at Microsoft, and the studio recently confirmed it via an official statement. The layoffs are reported to be between three and five thousand employees, mostly from the sales and marketing departments and mostly located outside of the United States.
Today, we are taking steps to notify some employees that their jobs are under consideration or that their positions will be eliminated. Like all companies, we evaluate our business regularly. This can result in increased investments in some places and, from time to time, re-deployment in others
Microsoft is yet to announce an official number of layoffs and an explanation as to why the sudden decision. We hope everything is well over at Microsoft and those affected by the layoffs are re-located as soon as possible.
