Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles Available Today; 8 Days of the Undead Event Announced, New Gameplay Showcased

Get ready for some Zombie killing action!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s final expansion pack – Zombies Chronicles, is available to download today. The expansion will cost players $30 and will not be included for Season Pass holders.

Jason Blundell, co-studio head at Treyarch, took to the PlayStation Blog to express his gratitude to the Call of Duty Zombie community. Zombies Chronicles will consist of 8 classic maps remaster in full HD for the current gen systems.

However, Blundell notes that even though Zombie Chronicles is considered a “remaster”, the team over at Treyarch took the utmost respect in creating new experiences for veterans of the series as well as newcomers to the zombie mode.

Here’s what he had to say about the project:

Typically, remastering – at its bare minimum – involves updating the fidelity of audio and visuals. While it can certainly involve the introduction of new gameplay and mechanics (which Zombies Chronicles does, by the way), it tends to remain more cosmetic in nature.

At the beginning of the development process for Zombies Chronicles, we knew that we had to take those standards and crank them all the way to 11. Sadly, there isn’t a “Remaster” button that just automatically polishes things up. So, we sought to confront that development challenge the only way we’ve ever known how: tackle it head-on, kill ourselves trying to exceed expectations, and leave everything on the court, letting the creative speak for itself.

Additionally, Blundell detailed the new upcoming double XP event called the 8 Days of the Undead. This event will launch today, alongside the Zombie Chronicles expansion and will allow players to earn double EXP, receive free content, and will allow players to engage community challenges. Check out both the trailer and what Blundell has to say down below:

To celebrate the launch of Zombies Chronicles, we’ll kick off the 8 Days program, during which players of Black Ops III or Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles will be able to earn Double XP rewards, engage in community challenges, and receive a host of free exclusive content, including a Zombies calling card, weapon camo, new GobbleGums and a PS4 theme.

Zombies Chronicles is available now on PS4, while Xbox and PC users will have to wait until next month. Have you picked up the last expansion for Black Ops 3? How are you liking it? Let us know in the comments below!
