2018 is quickly approaching and with it will come a slew of new video game titles to look forward to playing. With that said, now’s a good time to start marking down what video games to keep an eye on when they officially launch next year. Let us lend a hand, in this list, in particular, we’re going over the top FPS video games launching in 2018.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead
  • Developer: Overkill Software

  • Release: 2018

The Walking Dead is an upcoming first-person co-op shooter based onThe Walking Dead comic book series. Players will have to survive together in a world that has been dominated by mindless flesh-eating walkers.

While details surrounding the video game narrative have yet to be fully fleshed out to the public, the development team has announced that a VR version of the game will be launching for the game as well. Unfortunately, the VR-experience to the video game does not have a specific release date yet other than at some point in 2018.


Far Cry 5

  • Platforms: PS4, XBO, PC

The eleventh installment but the fifth main title within the franchise, Far Cry 5 will be seeing a release in 2018. The video game takes place within the United States of America this time around, though more specifically, in a fictional Hope County, Montana.

Within the narrative, Far Cry 5 pins players against Joseph Seed, a leader of a cult who has forced his way into controlling Hope County. As more innocent civilians become trapped and forced into submission under Joseph Seed’s rule, only a handful of resistance stands between Seed and his reign.

Just as before, players can expect the title to deliver as a first-person shooter in an open world environment to explore either on foot or through vehicles.



System Shock

  • Release: DELAYED 2019

If you enjoyed System Shock back when it first released in 1994, next year, 2018, players will be given the chance to once again enjoy the System Shock journey through a remake. The video game is being developed by Night Dive Studios which will retell the narrative journey of a nameless hacker who gets swindled into working with the TriOptimum Corporation, a company the hacker previously attempted to hack and steal files from.

As mentioned, System Shock originally released back in 1994 where it was praised by critics and was a commercial success leading to a sequel to release under the development studios Looking Glass Studios and Irrational Games. We’re interested in seeing just how well the remake will do in today’s market.


Battalion 1944
  • Developer: Bulkhead Interactive
  • Publisher: Square Enix
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: 2018

Set during World War II is developers Bulkhead Interactive upcoming first-person shooter, Battalion 1944. The video game is said to be bring back the old school vibe of FPS to the latest generation of consoles. With that said, there’s no campaign available to go through alone. Instead, the developers have created Battalion 1944 to be a multiplayer focused close quarters combat frenzy.

While we have the video game listed to release in 2018, the developers are hoping to release an early access version of the video game this year with a full launch happening sometime afterwards.


Wolfenstein 2

  • Release: 2018 (NS)

Yes, we know! Wolfenstein II is already out this past year, 2017. The video game follows the events of Wolfenstein: The New Order which alters historical events. With the Nazi Regime ruling the world, a military resistance looks to fight back within America, acting as the nation’s second American Revolution against the Nazi rule.

Now it seems that Nintendo Switch owners will not receive Wolfenstein 2 title at some point this year.



GTFO
  • Developer: 10 Chambers Collective
  • Publisher: 10 Chambers Collective
  • Platforms: PC
  • Release: 2018

GTFO is all about teamwork as you and your crew head into the dark underground complex to fight off horrifying creatures in this first-person shooter. Developers 10 Chambers Collective promises gamers a thrilling and atmospheric environment where teams are set to go into the unknown in order to claim precious artifacts.

Working together, using nothing but their firepower and tools, gamers will have to rely on coordination along with communication to survive the nightmare that awaits your arrival.


Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

  • Release: October 12, 2018

The Call of Duty: Black Ops series seems to do well in the market and now we’re finally confirmed that a fourth installment is set to release later this year. Unfortunately, we have no information at all when it comes to the game.

We’re interested to see if the game installment has any new spin to the series this time around. Right now, all we have is a teaser for the upcoming game with a reveal event scheduled on May 17, 2018.


Metro Exodus

  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • Release: 2018

Taking place after the events of Metro: Last Light, players will once again step into the role of Artyom in the upcoming first-person shooter, Metro Exodus.

Over twenty year has passed in the nuclear war that left much of the earth in a post-apocalyptic state, Artyom is on a grand journey to travel with the Spartan Rangers.

As you can expect from past Metro titles, players will be fighting off a slew of enemies and mutated creatures. Outside of battle, Artyom will need to scavenge for various materials to help craft new weaponry and goods to stay alive.



Deep Rock Galactic
  • Developer: Ghost Ship Games
  • Publisher: Coffee Stain Publishing
  • Platforms: PC, XBO
  • Release: February 28, 2018 (Early Access)

Seeking to create a thrilling co-op first-person shooter experience, developers Ghost Ship Games is developing a title known as Deep Rock Galactic. This is currently an Early Access title that can be purchased today, though you can expect some changes and bugs until the final release launches.

Within the game, players are tasked with working together in digging into the underground as they collect valuable resources through cave systems. However, you’re not alone underground forcing our team of miners to come packed and loaded with heavy artillery to face against the hostile threats.

Caves are procedurally generated with enemies and loot to collect making it a new adventure every time you start. Currently, the game offers four-player cooperative gameplay with four unique classes to not only help fight against the enemy hostiles but to flesh out a team of miners.


Ready Or Not
  • Developer: Void Interactive
  • Publisher: Void Interactive
  • Platform: PC
  • Release: 2018

Ready or Not may see a release this year, though we don’t have an official release date attached to the project quite yet. This is an upcoming first-person shooter that acts like the Rainbow Six series in that players will be experiencing a tactical police type shooter.

Within the game, players will take on the role of an elite SWAT team member who must protect the innocent and take down the hostile threats. However, don’t think you can go guns blazing as the developers are working on a realism experience.
